  1. even though you did not mean any offense, it is ridiculous that you would use this image.

you obviously realize how this image might be offensive, or you would not have said anything.

you are perpetuating cultural myths - we need to stop apropriating native american culture (which is intricate and extremely specific - which we have reduced to a foolish cliche) whom we (as American people) committed genocide against, and whose oppression continues to this day.

    really.

    but.

    happy thanksgiving.

(i do not mean any of this in an angry, ranted way, sorry if it comes across that way. i really like your blog!)

  5. i completely agree with anonymous. it's a pretty picture, but that doesn't take away its offensive implications.

although by acknowledging its offensive nature you are taking a positive step in the right direction.

and i love your blog, it's really one of my favorites.

    happy thanksgiving!

  7. I am half Native Amerrrrican, and I didn't take offense to this at all. In face, I think it's a cute picture and from one of her best photo shoots to date.

  10. Being a racist isn't cute or fashionable. Don't ruin your blog with stuff like this.

  11. I'm sure she didn't mean to offend, but the fact that she felt the need to add a disclaimer means she knows that it might be offensive.

    What's the point?

  12. I'm sure the blogger's intention was not to perpetuate cultural myths.

I just don't understand why people who aren't native feel the need to "stand up" for them.

    Take it easy, guys.
    Yeesh.

ps. I'm sure if the blogger put up a KKK member it would be offensive and we all know why.

  13. Hey Catalina, why are you calling the person who writes this blog racist? Why wouldn't you just go straight to the source and call Mary-Kate a racist since she agreed to pose like this, huh?

  14. love the pic; don't worry about the crazy haters.

if you're offended, why are you following the blog? better yet, why do you love the olsen who would do this? think about that

it's a fab & cute picture and i don't see what's offensive at all. appreciate the fun in a photo and take it as it is...otherwise we'd have to overanalyse every fashion photo out there (i don't see any fur hating going on for goodness' sake).

  15. I know this is an older post, but I just wanted to say that I am part Native American and take no offense to this at all! Love the picture, love the blog.

  16. It's always those who are not faced with racism in their daily lives who think "it's no big deal"...

Also just because one is natve american and finds nothing offensive about this picture, doesn't mean that other native people don't.

Try to be a little more conscientious.

  17. You have no idea what any of these people go through in their daily lives, so why don't you try to be a little more conscientious.

The poster above you said it didn't offend them personally. Not that it didn't offend anyone of Native American decent.
